[edit]This has a few glaring inaccuracies, no? Flea listed as playing guitar for the last few lineups? Where's John Frusciante? Why is Brad listed as a member of the last several lineups? I don't know enough about the band's history to provide an accurate correction, but I know enough to recognize this page is incorrect... Eric.d.dixon (talk) 04:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
who the hell is brendan bonello why flea plays the guitar where's frusciante. i don't know why someone let's this guy write an article he's giving wrong information about the greatest band of our times and no one do nothing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Garridojoana (talk • contribs) 20:30, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Timeline
[edit]The Timeline on this page seems to have a couple inaccuracies. Kiedis is showing having joined in 1984, also the paragraph at the top indicates he briefly left the band in 1986, yet there is no break in his bar. The chart could be made clearer on other points. For example band members who were only briefly members are shown as being members for just one day, January 1st. So several members appear to be part of the group at the same time when they weren't. I believe the vertical black lines also represent albums, but they're drawn on January 1st of their year of release, which makes it hard to tell which members were a part of it. Also a couple Albums are absent, The Abbey Road E.P. and Live in Hyde Park.
I believe the chart is more accurate and easier to read now that I've made a couple of changes. I gave each member a minimum of one month, with no overlap for similar positions. Using the actual release dates for each album will make it clearer which members were a part of the album. --Energy Surge (talk) 01:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Details on Chuck Biscuits playing with them (which was maybe 1 show with them as a fill in for that night) are pretty sketchy and unconfirmed. There is zero mention of Chuck ever playing with the Peppers on his wiki page either. Philip "Fish" Fisher was NEVER a member. He just played drums on Taste The Pain, which was written and recorded prior to Chad joining and they decided to not re-record it with him and leave the song as is on the album. Zander Schloss was also NEVER a member, NEVER played a show with them, NEVER recorded with them. This is confirmed in Anthony's book. They considered Zander as a replacement for John but felt the timing wasn't right. Zander wasn't happy with their decision either and how they flew him out for a audition but decided not to go with him. Just because he was considered, doesn't make him a Pepper. I'm not sure why these three always are being added when none of them have ever been official members of the band therefore I don't think they really should be on the timeline and especially shouldn't be included in the history of the band lineup.
Everyone else I didn't mention were official members. Anthony, Flea, Chad, John, Dave, Jesse, Arik, Hillel, Jack I, Jack S, Cliff, Dewayne, D.H., Josh. --Jason1978 (talk) 01:59, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

John Frusciante's depature date
[edit]On the list of Red Hot Chili Peppers band members timeline, some users continue to change John Frusciante's departure date from 2008 to 2009. This is incorrect: Frusciante confirmed on his official website in late 2009 that he left the band "over a year ago", placing his departure sometime in 2008. (See here for official post: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=3981059&blogId=522547404 )
I am getting extrememy frustrated with users continuously changing this information. The only compromise that I can think of is marking the time period "(1998 - c. 2008)" on the timeline. Any other ideas/suggestions are appreciated and recommened. I am just getting a bit fed up with reverting the edits constantly..

Timeline image
[edit]The image File:RHCP Members by Year.png is 155 kB in size, and that may be considered excessive. It makes sense to keep a full-colour bitmap as a master image if it's going to be resized or reused with modifications. If it's only ever going to be used at one size, then reducing it to an 8-bit palleted png with 256 colours can save a considerable amount of filesize with almost no loss of visual quality. Compare this version to see what I mean. That is only 32 kB, but it may be possible to optimise it further. --RexxS (talk) 16:55, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Feel free to replace it. I just saved it as what was default on my computer. I put no thought into which exact format to use. Nathan (talk) 04:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Also, I made this image in Excel. I was thinking it would be good if I could upload the source file (.xlsx) so others could make changes in the future. Does anyone know of an appropriate way to do this? Nathan (talk) 04:07, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
An==Zander Schloss==
Zander was NEVER A MEMBER. Even his wiki page will not put up info that he was a member and Zander mentions all the bands he was in on his facebook page yet RHCP is not mentioned as a band he was in. Can someone please remove it from the timetable graphic. Anthony mentions this in his book that they auditioned Zander right after John left, flew him out when they were on tour but things didn't work out so after 4 days they sent a very upset Zander him back to L.A. and they cancelled the rest of the tour. Zander never played with the band, never recorded with them and was never an official member. Jason1978 (talk) 04:07, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- If they hired him, he was a member, even if he never toured. Yworo (talk) 15:54, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
In 2010, the band released their very first official book titled Red Hot Chili Peppers: An Oral/Visual History. Zander is not mentioned anywhere in the entire book. There is even a timeline in the book listing all the band members and again, ZERO mention of Zander. The only time Zander is mentioned in any book, article etc is in Anthony's book where he talks about how he was with the band rehearsing for four days and then they told him it wouldn't work out. If Zander is considered a member then Keith Morris should be ahead of him. Morris of the Circle Jerks filled in at a show for Anthony so he actually performed once with them. Like I also pointed out, Zander makes zero mention of this on his personal Facebook page either.
Here is what Zander's official Facebook page says:
Musician/Songwriter · 1981 to present · Los Angeles, California Juicy Bananas,Circle Jerks,Thelonious Monster,Latino Rockabilly War,Joe Strummer,Too Free Stooges,Wierdos,Low & Sweet Orchestra,Magnificent Bastards,Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss

So I have been warned about vandalizing this page by removing Zander Schloss from the official lineup. I wont delete his name again but I strongly feel this should be open for debate because most fans know he was never a member of the band. The band's official bio and Zander himself have confirmed he's was never member however he continues to be added back to the band lineup page due to Anthony's comments in his book. The band's official bio lists every single band member but Zander's name is nowhere in the book. So if Zander was considered a member, why would the band's only official book leave him out of it? Anthony's book is not a band bio either. Below are quotes from Zander, Flea and Anthony on the topic.
This is from Zander's MySpace bio: He was trialed to be a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for four days, but after a falling-out with John Frusciante, it was decided it wasn't going to work.
Here is Flea's quote from RHCP: A Oral/Visual History: Replacing John was a hard thing. Arik Marshall was a great player, probably could have been and great guitar player for us but certain things didn't work out.
Here is Anthony's quote from his book from pg 297, chapter 11: We would go on to Austrailia where we would meet up with Zander Schloss who WAS GOING TO TAKE JOHN'S PLACE. Zander was a talented, zany, soulful, comic sensibility. We had seven days to teach him enough songs to rock out Australia. Zander met us in Sydney where we started intensive two-a-day rehearsals. But after four days, it was clear to me and Flea that this wasn't happening. Zander was playing the songs but it didn't feel like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. When we told Zander he was devestated. You'd thought he was with the band four years and not four days.
I can see how that Anthony's final quote could mislead someone into thinking he joined but Anthony also clearly acknowledges that he was going to John's place which clearly means he didn't. Zander never was hired, never signed a contract. Rehearsing for four days doesn't count. I really honestly do not know what more proof is needed. Jason1978 (talk) 12:46, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have read the Oral/Visual history of the Chili Peppers, and I even went back and added that book as a general reference for this list. It doesn't MATTER if he was trialed, rehearsed, or auditioned for the band; it was NOTABLE ENOUGH for Kiedis to write it in his autobiography, and apparently NOTABLE enough for Schloss HIMSELF to write it on his MySpace (which isn't a reliable source in the first place, but just saying to prove my point). Obviously, if it weren't an important decision for the Peppers to make as a band, they would've omitted it from the biography. I can understand why it's not included in the Oral/Visual history; that's fine, but that's not the only source we're using here. So many people have auditioned to drum or play guitar for the Chili Peppers in their history; Zander Schloss is an important and notable person (according to the band) that made it for only a few days. Schloss acknowledges himself that it was an extremely brief tenure, but a tenure nonetheless. I'm not interpreting anything incorrectly; there isn't anything to interpret. It's clear; the guys from the band consider him notable enough to be considered a member, not just a random person who auditioned. I have worked EXTREMELY hard on this list to make it as accurate as possible, which is why it currently stands as a WP:FL. I don't want to see my hard work abolished over something so trivial. WereWolf (talk) 16:04, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
It does matter if he was trialed/rehearsed because what you are saying is that he was HIRED as a band member, should be included as a former band member which he wasn't. Anthony's bio is not a band bio or the band's views yet you keep saying the guys from band consider him a member. Can you show me where Flea or Chad Smith have said this? In the Oral/Visual book the timeline shows John quitting, Arik replacing him. Flea is even quoted in the book right after John quits that Arik replaced him. A big reason Anthony mentions Zander is because Anthony has a long history with Zander. Zander has a long history with the Peppers through Circle Jerks, Dick Rude, Joe Strummer and Zander's side band, The Two Free Stooges which Flea and ex Pepper, DH Peligro were in with Schloss. Anthony also mentions in his book how he was replaced in the band with Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris for one show. I have pointed that out more than once but you seem to ignore that or care to even add that to their lineup history. Morris actually played with the band live. Nobody considers Morris a official member and he actually played a full show with them as their singer. That's more than Schloss did with his rehearsing.
You are also saying Zander acknowledged he was a member? Again, where is this? Like I said, he said he was trailed. Being trailed, which is Zander's words is being auditioned, working out, trying out...which is what he did and both Schloss and Kiedis say that 4 days into it things didn't work out. You are reading alot into both men's quotes because nowhere did either man state that Zander Schloss was a hired, became an official member of the Peppers. He's as much as an official member as the other guitarists/drummers who tried out for the band. If Chad Smith tried out, rehearsed and didn't make it that doesn't make him a member of the band. Chad tried out and was hired officially. DH Peligro tried out, rehearsed and was made an official band member. Of course Zander is going to mention this in his bio. Wouldn't you? HOWEVER if you also look at his official Facebook page he lists the band's he was in and RHCP is not mentioned.
And it's good that you worked hard on this list and I applaud your efforts and you can look at every RHCP related page on here including albums, tours etc and you can see my extensive work there since 2006. I created many RHCP-releated pages including singles, tour pages etc but this isn't a pissing contest to see who is better. I would like to work with you bettering this page but the info of Schloss being a member of the band is inaccurate and I personally think he should remain out of the list of former members HOWEVER be mentioned like he already is with the little blurb about him rehearsing but it not working out. Jason1978 (talk) 06:10, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- You are impossible to work with. But whatever, just leave him off of the list. I don't care anymore. This isn't worth me being banned from editing. WereWolf (talk) 22:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm not trying to be however you are now starting to make things up like band members said he was a member, Zander acknowldged he was a member yet you know it's untrue and the quotes provided, info provided prove that. Anwyays...I must ask you how come you seem so devoted to editing the list of RHCP band members yet completly ignore the other RHCP sections on here especially the RHCP template and main RHCP section...which neither feature Zander's name as a ex-member? If you must add his name here, why avoid adding it eleswhere? Jason1978 (talk) 22:37, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Possible Bug: Timeline on iOS/Android Is Blank
